What does it take to have a green thumb? Why do some people have it, and others don’t?
I’ll give you some easy tips on how to grow plants successfully.

There are several main factors that by no means depend on your personal growing skills. These are light and temperature you can provide to your future plant, type of plant you choose to grow, and how you start your plant. These factors are tightly related of course, but following are some ground rules to help you out in making the right decision.

1. Light
Assessing the light you can provide to your plants is among the first things you do. Unless you can move to a new apartment, or you can provide artificial lighting, the light factor in your home is relatively permanent and cannot be easily influenced. That's why it acts as the ground zero for choosing your future plants.

2. Temperature and climate
Temperature, air humidity, and general climate behavior are the next factors you need to be aware when choosing the right plants for you. These factors can be influenced a bit easier than light, but will determine to a very big extent the success of your gardening efforts, especially when you are a beginner.

3. Choosing the right plant
In addition to the ground rules for judging the light and temperature conditions, you can simply look around you and observe what others near you are growing.

4. How to start your plant
Whether you decide to purchase a developed plant, or start it from seed or a cutting, you can adhere to some basic rules for beginners.
